Watch: Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson spoof Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard in upcoming movie

The Hitman’s Bodyguard, soon to be released at the theaters, isn’t exactly a “love story in troubled-times” between Samuel L Jackson and Ryan Reynolds, and it becomes clear once you see the hilarious red-band trailer where Whitney Houston’s powerful voice comes bursting out of your speakers belting out ‘I Will Always Love You’ from her own ‘Bodyguard movie’

It’s as much a homage to the movie, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, as it is a spoof.

We cannot forget the iconic poster of the 1992 released record-smasher, where Kevin Costner who plays Whitney’s Bodyguard is seen lifting her in his arms to escort her to safety. Probably why, it didn’t take long for people to notice the resemblance in the parody poster featuring Samuel L Jackson and Ryan Reynolds in the same position.

It could be either cheeky, funny or merely a witty tribute. Totally your call.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard, an action-comedy directed by Patrick Hughes, is a story of a Bodyguard (Ryan Reynolds) who takes on the job to protect his former enemy, a hitman (Samuel L Jackson) to work together to defeat a dictator.

The movie is scheduled to be released on August 18th 2017 in the U.S
