Mary J. Blige’s latest album debuts at #3 on Billboard Charts. Her strongest chart-debut in 7 years.

Amid all the drama surrounding her personal life and divorce with husband Kendu Isaacs, Mary J is not willing to let her career feel the heat of it.Her latest LP, ‘Strength Of A Woman’, released last week. has opened with great numbers at the Billboard Top 200 Album charts, debuting at the #3 spot. This is her best entry into the US Billboard charts in 7 years, since her ‘Stronger With Each Tear’ album debuted at #2 in the year 2010.

The album has sold over 78,000 copies it’s first week, holding its position in the Top 3 of the charts. The Top two spots are taken by Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Damn’ which sits at the top of the charts for the third consecutive week and has already been certified platinum, and animated band Gorillaz’ album ‘Humanz’ which is at #2.

‘Strength’ is yet again a very personal album from Blige, following seperation from her husband of 14 years, and deals with a variety of emotions that the singer is going through, but mostly reflects a positive outlook towards all the hardships.

The album’s lead single, ‘Thick Of It’ was released in October, 2016 and topped the Billboard Adult RnB Songs Charts.

The last time Mary broke in to the Top 5 was 6 years ago, in 2011, with her album ‘My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1)’. Her last #1 album in the US was ‘Growing Pains’ which came out almost 10 years ago.
