Karni Sena says they will cut Deepika Padukone's nose over Padmavati controversy

The controversy surrounding the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' isn't dying anytime soon.

As several religious and political groups side with barring the screening of the historical drama, accusing it of falsely depicting historical facts and hurting the sentiments of the Rajput community - moviegoers are wondering if the much-awaited magnum opus would see the light of the day per its schedule.

After a series of online threats, public protests, and instances of vandalism and physically assaulting Bhansali - another far right group from Rajasthan has stepped-in limelight for all the wrong reasons.

Mahipal Singh Makrana, the president of the state's Shri Rajput Karni Sena, has now gone ahead threatening the movie's leading actress, Deepika Padukone, of physical harm.

In a shocking statement released in a viral video, Makrana openly threatens to chop-off Deepika's nose, comparing her with Ramayana's Shupranakha.

Makrana's statements come a day after Deepika expressed her disappointment over the controversies surrounding the release of the movie, stating how the country is 'regressing' and assuring her fans that a screening would take place, regardless of the protests.

A few days ago, BJP MP, Chintamani Malviya also created controversy with his remark stating that the people involved in the process of making the movie wouldn't understand anything about 'honor' as the women in their families change husbands everyday.

The Rajput community, including several Hindu groups are upset with the alleged portrayal of a romantic link between princess Padmavati and Alauddin Khijli.
