From 'Haraamkhor' to 'Newton' - here are the Top 7 best films of 2017

Bollywood produced some pretty great films in 2017. But like most years, due to their mild budgets and humble promotions, a vast majority of people may not have seen or even heard about them yet.

As the award season arrives, one wouldn't expect to see a vast majority of these being talked about or appreciated, but they surely need to be acknowledged and encouraged for what they've offered.

So we have put together the list of seven of the best Bollywood/Indie movies, that you need to rent and check out - if you haven't already seen them!

Putting aside the commercial impact of these releases, we have included movies like 'Haraamkhor' - which revolved around a rural school teacher's illegitimate affair with an under-age school girl and 'Kadvi Hawa' - which is based on the repercussions of a dry spell which takes over Bundelkhand, destroying the drought-hit villages.

At #7, we have placed the Konkona Sen Sharma and Ratna Pathak Shah-starrer 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' - which puts together four very different stories of the lead protagonists as they experience various transitions in their love and sex lives.

At #6 we have placed Sanjay Mishra's 'Kadvi Hawa', while #5 is taken up by 'Trapped' - which shows Rajkumar Rao, playing the role of a hopeful lover who gets trapped in an abandoned building for several days and then struggles for his survival.
