Gladys Knight – one of the many seasoned divas paying tribute to the late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin – has revealed that she too struggled from the ‘same disease’ that the late songstress suffered from.
Aretha passed away, at the age of 76, after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer – something she was diagnosed with in late 2010.
While attending Franklin’s funeral ceremony, Knight made the revelation to WDIV-TV (Channel 4) while on her way to the entrance of Greater Grace Temple in Detroit.
“We shared the fact that we had the same disease,” the ‘Midnight Train To Georgia’ hitmaker stated.
The statement caused an initial confusion with several outlets revealing that Gladys too, suffers from Pancreatic Cancer. However her publicist, Javier Delgado, quickly stepped-in to clarify that may be that is not what she really meant, “But she does not have cancer.”
Whatever it was miss Knight has had to deal with, we hope she’s on road to a full and lasting recovery.
