The late Whitney Houston’s chart-topping, record-breaking sophomore album, entitled ‘Whitney’ was released in the year 1987 and produced several unforgettable classics, including four #1 Billboard Hot 100 singles.
In addition to being the first album by a female to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album charts it also went on to establish Houston as the only artist in history with 7 consecutive #1 singles, surpassing the previous record held by The Beatles.
The album was a commercial juggernaut but was also a critical success, being nominated for a Grammy in the ‘Album Of The Year’ category.
