Nile Rodgers: “Lady Gaga is More Respectful Than Madonna”

Musician Nile Rodgers recently spoke about what makes Lady Gaga and Madonna different from each other, as artists and as working colleagues.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Nile cited Gaga as someone who’s more ‘respectful’ – while working with producers in the studio.

Here is what he said about the ‘Million Reasons’ singer:

“Gaga’s a different kind of animal. Before recording she said, ‘Nile, I want to know what’s in your mind.”

He continued:

“She was incredibly respectful … That right there is a huge difference in personality.”

Nile also spoke on how he feels about Madonna – someone he’s worked with on a number of her biggest hits from her early years, e.g., ‘Like A Virgin.’

She knew what she wanted.

I love that about her because if you’re that much of a believer I’d rather go with you … until it sucks. If it sucks, I go, ‘Er, you really don’t want to do it like that’. I’d worked with so many international superstars, but I’d never come across such an iron will before.

They certainly do make different kinds of music and have a different vocal styles, but the question perhaps comes from the comparisons that were drawn in the initial years of Gaga’s career – when her titillating appearance, flamboyant looks, sexual videos and catchy Pop numbers were largely reminiscent of what Madonna offered back in the 80’s.

But Gaga has consistently revamped that image and has grown into a different kind of artist altogether?

What do you think of Nile’s assessment?
