Bette Midler: “Women are the N-word of the world”

In the midst of the ongoing Brett Kavanaugh debacle and his confirmation into the Supreme Court, Bette Midler chose to express her outrage in a not-so-subtle way.

The actress and singer took to Twitter to compare women with a rather racist choice of word and was immediately slammed online for the same.

Here is what she said:

“Women, are the n-word of the world.” Raped, beaten, enslaved, married off, worked like dumb animals; denied education and inheritance; enduring the pain and danger of childbirth and life IN SILENCE for THOUSANDS of years They are the most disrespected creatures on earth.

The comment, as one one would expect, soon caught fire and received thousands of replies within the first two hours as people called her out for comparing two very different things. While there were also those, who insisted that she was only trying to make a point about the deteriorating state of women in the world.

It looks Midler has deleted her Tweet, after a large number of people started demanding the same. But the tea is already out there.

Did you find anything offensive about her comparison?
