Christina Aguilera Reflects on Being ‘Left-Out’ Of Madonna-Britney Lip-Lock Stint at 2003 MTV VMA

It has been nearly 15 years when Madonna and Britney Spears scorched international headlines with their intense on-stage lip-lock during their 2003 MTV VMA performance.

The pop divas went tongue-to-tongue on live TV as the camera soon switched to catch Justin Timberlake’s reaction from the audience, who had broken up with Spears’ not too long ago. The one person who was largely left out in all the press coverage that followed was co-performer Christina Aguilera, whose ‘make-out’ portion with Madge, was cut short by the cameraman only to cover Justin’s immediate reaction from the audience.

All these years later, Christina Aguilera admits to being bothered about the press-attention being taken away from her, despite being an equal part of the performance — and the smooch!

Appearing on SiriusXM’s Andy Radio, with Andy Cohen – Christina was quizzed if she was bugged about the way they ‘cut-away’ during her make-out session with Madonna at the end of the trio’s ‘Like A Virgin’ performance.

‘It was weird. They cut away to get Justin’s reaction,” she says, further adding, “I saw the newspaper the next day. And I was like, ‘Oh well, I guess I got left out of that one.’

“But I had my own performance that day. It was a kickass performance. I was okay with that. She can have the kiss,” Aguilera concluded.
