Michelle Williams’s Depression Nearly Ended Her Relationship and Engagement with Chad Johnson!

Michelle Williams has been battling with depression for longer than most people would know.

The former Destiny’s Child singer had checked into a mental health facility earlier this year, after publicly releasing a statement regarding the same.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine, the gospel/RnB vocalist reveals how her constant battle with mental health issues, ended her relationship with fiance Chad Johnson, not once…but twice!

The publication reports how she first called it off only few weeks after Johnson had popped the question to her, and later did the same when she sought medical help back in July, this year.

PEOPLE quotes her as saying:

“I thought I was over depression, I thought, ‘I’m good!’ I’ve got love, I’m working out. But I was so angry. The rage built up in me. I did not attempt suicide, but I was questioning [life].”

The singer further stated how she did not want Johnson to ride the wagon with her, as she went in and out of her mental health issues.

“I would’ve understood [if he left],” she said. “He’s been praying for a wife. He didn’t pray for a depressed wife.”

Prior to her admission in the facility earlier this year, she had released the following statement:

“For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing.”

“I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals. Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for betterment of those in need.”
