Watch: New Orleans Band Denied Christina Aguilera’s Request To Sing With Them On-Stage At A Bar!

Christina Aguilera was chilling with her peeps at Cafe Negril on Frenchmen Street, New Orleans on Thursday – when she decided to hop on stage and join the band for a singathon.

To her own surprise, the diva’s offer was turned down by the lead singer of Claude Bryant and the All Stars, which is a local band that regularly performs at the place.

The awkward encounter was captured on cameras and was shared on Twitter, featuring her saying – “You don’t want that? It’s OK, I don’t have to sing”, after being turned down by the band’s lead as she approached the stage.

It later turned out that the band-member simply failed to recognize Aguilera, given her ‘casual’ outfit and cap – covering a significant portion of her head. The singer – Claude Bryant, later apologized, insisting that Aguilera could come back anytime for a fresh start and sing any song she wants to.

“I didn’t recognise her because she had a cap over here head and over her eyes,” he was quoted telilng WGNO.

The very next day, Aguilera had her own show scheduled off her ‘Liberation’ tour and addressed the incident to her fans.

“He would not give me the mic,” she laughed along with her audience. “He was, like, a little older and he was just like, he was not feeling it. He was not gonna give up his mic. I was like, ‘Oh, I just want to come up.'”

The singer then joked that after being denied to sing and heading back to her seat, she thought to just save all her energy for tomorrow’s show.

And so she did.

Watch her narrate the incident:

Missed opportunity for Mr Bryant, shall we say?

Better luck, next time, mate!
