SoundPasta gets its biggest drive from great music - and particularly the music that has paved the way for today's generations of performing artists.

Considering our great love and adoration for India's ultimate songbird, Lata Mangeshkar, we would today reminisce over a heartwarming performing of one of her most cherished and widely remembered classics, 'Lag Ja Gale.'

The legendary songbird, originally sang this Raja Mehndi Ali Khan-penned song for the movie 'Sadhna' - which was released more than 50 years ago, in 1964.

13 years later, after turning it into one of her signature ballads, the iconic vocalist delivered an equally spellbinding rendition of the song for the BBC network on Pebble Mill in 1979.

The live show put-together in a studio-like iconic setting, located in England, featured the glorious diva, singing one of her most beautiful tunes ranging from 'Jo Wada Kiya' to 'Ehsaan Hoga Tera' - which were, needless to say, equally glorious.

But the enchanting simplicity of 'Lag Ja Gale' always manages to capture our hearts.

Check out the beautiful rendition below:

Can you believe it has been that long since this song came out?

And it still manages to linger on our memories and certainly in our playlists.

If you have tuned in thus far, here are a few bonus performances by the legend from the same show:

JO WAADA KIYA

DHEERE SE AAJA RI

EHSAAN TERA HOGA

RAHE NA RAHE HUM

Long live the Queen!
