Indian beauty Manushi Chillar wins 2017 Miss World. 17 years since India's last win

International beauty pageants have been disappointing India for almost 2 decades, with none of the country's beauties making it to the top.

It was the year 2000 - when Priyanka Chopra brought home the last crown after her glorious win at the competition held in Republic of Cyprus - and went on to establish herself as a leading lady in Bollywood.

Putting a hiatus to the 17-year old drought, Delhi-based 20-year old beauty, Manushi Chillar has bagged the top spot after being crowned this year's Miss World.

Over 108 beauties from diverse set of continents had participated in the compeition which took place in the Sanya City Arena in China. Manushi, who's a budding medical student from Haryana, was seemingly overjoyed as Puerto Rico's Stephania Del Valle, who won the title last year, passed on the crown to her.

During the Q&A round, Chattar was asked to name the profession, which according to her, deserves the highest monetory rewards. Citing her mother as an inpiring example, this is what she said:

“My mother has been my biggest inspiration, so I have to say, a mother’s job. It is not always about cash, but love and respect as well. A mother deserves that the most.”

Watch her crowning moment below:

It is already an established fact, how several of the competing and winning beauties from the past have successfully made their way to B-town - would Manushi follow the lead?

Won't be too long, before someone signs her up!

Congratulations Manushi. And congratulations India.
