As Hollywood feels the wrath of sexual assault victims who are now coming out in large numbers to name-call several A-listers who have shown predatory behavior towards them in the past, it shouldn't come as a surprise if Bollywood too now follows the lead.

The rich and powerful of the movie biz, taking advantage of their positions - is a phenomenon, that has been discussed at numerous instances before. The same is being brought to light again, by actress Priyanka Chopra's mother Dr. Madhu Choppra who recently spoke on a number of instances from her daughter's early days in the industry and her refusal to succumb to unwanted sexual advances.

Although Mrs Chopra doesn't name anyone, she does reflect back at the time when PC turned down projects from famous directors on the ground of standing by her principals and her denial to make sacrifices.

PC, who was a budding 17 year old youngster, freshly off the Miss World competition, was often accompanied by her mother as she ventured out to meet filmmakers in order to discuss prospective projects.

"She was just 17 when she entered the industry, so I accompanied her every minute of the day till about three years ago," PC's mother said at a Children's event recently.  So a gentleman meets her and says: ‘Will your mother sit outside while I narrate the story to you?’ Priyanka told him, ‘If it is a story that my mother can’t hear then it is a story that I cannot do.’ She walked out of that project - a prestigious one."

Recalling another such incident, the Quantico star's mother recalled how she lost as many as 10 films after turning down a project from an influential director.

"Another time, a designer told her that the director’s brief was to dress her in itsy-bitsy clothes. The director had said, ‘What is the point of having a Miss World in front of the camera if we cannot show her as her beautiful self?’ Priyanka refused to do the film. It was being helmed by a reputed director and he got upset. Priyanka lost 10 films because she walked out of that project. But she didn’t care. That is what I say to everyone. This is not the end of your life. Your life is more valuable."

Although, Madhu Chopra hasn't named the people involved in those instances - it makes us wonder, if - much like Hollywood, this might trigger a possible dirt-filled past being revealed by survivors of sexual misconduct in the Indian film industry.

As far as sexual abuse goes - its really never too late to speak up against/about it.
