Bill Gates praises 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' as one of the most inspiring things from 2017

Akshay Kumar's box-office smasher 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' has found a new fan in Bill Gates.

The co-founder of Microsoft, recently took to Twitter to speak on a number of things that inspired him in the year 2017 and enlisted the Akshay Kumar starrer socially-relevant comedy-drama as one of the most significant events of the year.

The Neeraj Pandey directed venture dealt with the subject of sanitation crisis in India; narrating a love-story directly affected by the lack of such facilities and the norm of open defecation in rural India.

"There’s no denying that 2017 was a really tough year," Gates wrote. "...but it also delivered some amazing moments of hope and progress. Here are some inspiring tweets that you may have missed"

Enlisting the movie, 3rd, in his list of things that inspired him this year, the business tycoon wrote the following:

""Toilet: A Love Story,” a Bollywood romance about a newlywed couple, educated audiences about India’s sanitation challenge."

Kumar's critically appreciated flick has been one of the biggest box-office successes of the year - educating people on the poor state of hygiene in rural areas and the ways to curb it.
