Shashi Kapoor's legacy definitely goes beyond all borders and boundaries.

The legendary screen icon, who passed away on the 4th of December due to a prolonged illness - is remembered not just by the countless admirers of his work here in India, but also his fans from Pakistan.

Soon after the news of the 79 year old's death featured prominently on both national and international media, people of Pakistan's Peshawar hosted a candle light vigil - right outside his ancestral home in the city.

The residence, called 'The Kapoor Haveli' was owned by Shashi's grandfather Dewan Basheswarnath Singh Kapoor in the start of the 20th century. It is the same place where the actor's eldest brother, Raj Kapoor was born - before Indo-Pak partition took place.

The vigil was joined by several localites, fans and movie lovers who payed homage to the beloved star, referring to him as the 'Pride of Peshawar.'

One of the organizers of the event said, “Peshawarites have great love and respect for the Kapoor family and Bollywood actors belonging to the ancient city.”
