Actor Manoj Joshi - who's mostly known by the diverse set of characters he's played in Bollywood and regional movies over the years - has no qualms about not ever receiving any mainstream movie awards for his work.

As this year, Joshi has been awarded the prestigious 'Padma Shri' honor - country's fourth highest civilian award, the actor reflected back at his journey of over 150 movies in various languages and also took a sarcastic

Insisting that the lack of recognition from Bollywood doesn't bother him at all - the actor, who's also received a national award for 'Best Supporting Actor' in 2017, stated that not winning any of these "Pan Masala" awards (subtle shade at the countless sponsors of the mainstream award shows), is not on his 'bucket-list' any way.

“Paan-masala waale awards ki mujhe padhi hi nahi hai." he said. "Mujhe woh award ya nomination mile ya na mile, koi farak nahi padhta! Is there any honour bigger than [the Padma Shri]?”

Differentiating between a 'superstar' and an 'actor', Manoj said, “Is an actor ‘renowned’ only when he is a superstar? Actor actor hota hai, and it’s the work which makes one great. I’ve never hired any PR agency for publicity, and never aspired to that in my life.”

Nevertheless, Manoj is ecstatic right now for being honored with a Padma Shri and acknowledges the recognition with gratitude.

“I can’t put it in words. It’s a great feeling when the nation recognizes your talent and hard work,” he says. “I got a call out of the blue from the government about this, and I started crying. The hard work I’ve put in the past 33 years, all flashed in front of my eyes. I thank every small or big technician, co-stars, directors, and especially my wife Charu, who has always been there for me, and dedicate this award to all of them.”
