Vidya Balan's sensational portrayal of the controversial late star of the South - 'Silk Smitha' in the 2011 released musical biopic - 'The Dirty Picture', played a pivotal role in establishing her as one of the top-billing actresses of the industry.

Despite its sensual, close-to-life depiction of the subject - moviegoers flocked to the theaters to witness what was about to be the shining moment in Balan's career - catapulting her to the top.

Perhaps taking inspiration from Balan's risk-taking instincts, 'Fukrey' actress Richa Chadda too will be following in the lead of the national award winning actress, to step in the shoes of another adult-movie star of southern movie industries - 'Shakeela.'

According to inside sources, Chadda will soon be seen playing the role of the actress and model - who was mostly known for her work in Tamil and Telugu softcore/soft porn movies back in the 80's and 90's.

Chadda, who's showcased her acting chops in movies like 'Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye' and 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' - definitely has skills to pull off a character that requires her to transform herself to such great extents.

The actress' spokesperson also had a word with Deccan Chronicles and said the following on the proposed project:

"The film is the story of Shakeela, one of the most famous actors from Malayalam cinema from the 90s who rose to a spectacular amount of fame. Her fans were spread across Asia and she earned fanfare as a woman which back then was unheard of. The film's script was exciting and is a great story to tell and the story will make for a great watch for the audience. The preparations will begin soon and the film should be going on floors in end April or May."

The Dirty Picture was both a commercial and critical success grossing over 100 crores at the box office. Balan won almost every 'Best Actress' award the following year - including the likes of Filmfare and National Awards.

Do you think Richa will be able to surpass the expectations set by Vidya on biopics of such nature?
