A few weeks ago Irrfan Khan shocked his fans by revealing on Twitter that he suffers from a 'rare medical condition.'

Soon after his revelations, fans and gossip columns alike started speculating on the exact ailment as few 'supposedly close' sources also pointed towards the actor suffering from a brain tumor.

As Khan prepares to commence treatment for his ailment, he finally did reveal and confirm the exact condition he suffers from.

The 'Lunch Box' star has been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor - as confirmed on his Twitter handle yesterday.

While most people might presume it to be a brain-related condition, due to the word 'neuro' coming in, Khan wrote - "Neuro is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to research."

Suggesting that he'd soon be going out of country to start treatment for his condition, the actor requested everyone to continue to send their wishes at his direction.

"To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell," he wrote.

A little on neuroendocrine tumors - The condition relates to an abnormal tissue growth in the hormone producing nervous cells - which could lead to the formation of tissues on almost any part of the body, but more commonly in the pancreas, lungs or intestines.

This also does not mean that it is malignant by default, but as is the case with most tumors, the risk and seriousness of the ailment is dependant upon the malignancy status of the tumors.

Here's hoping a speedy recovery for one our favorite and most gifted stars.
