Watch: Waheeda Rehman sings 'Gaata Rahe Mera Dil' at Karan Johar's mother's birthday celebration

Karan Johar recently hosted a star-studded birthday bash for his mother Hiroo Johar - who turned 75 this past week.

To make the occasion more festive, the filmmaker invited singer Sonu Nigam to sing some old tunes from his own movies and some other favorites of his mom.

Karan was apparently all geared-up for the occasion in-advance - as could be judged by the elaborate and gorgeous invitation packages he sent to his close guests - which included a lavish set of white/pink roses, a bottle of champagne, a cake and a box of chocolate.

But it was during the actual celebration, when the who's who of B-town got on stage along with Sonu, to churn out a few tunes with the singer.

One such moment was when the adorable Waheeda Rehman stood behind the microphone alongside Nigam, to perform the classic ballad 'Gaata Rahe Mera Dil' - a song from the 1965 released classic - 'Guide', in which she starred as the leading lady.

Later on, Karan himself joined the singer singing the title track of his 2006 hit flick, 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' along with lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar.

The event was quite a star-studded affair, as it featured some of Karan's close buddies from B-town - including the likes of Rani Mukerjee, Manish Malhotra, Kareena Kapoor and Kajol.

Johar's closeness to his mother is well known to everyone as the filmmaker has often spoken about their precious bond - especially since his father's passing.

Here's wishing a happy 75th to Ms Johar and many more to come!
