Anupam Kher transforms into former PM Manmohan Singh for upcoming movie, 'The Accidental Prime Minister'

Anupam Kher - who're presently riding high after scoring a nomination at the upcoming BAFTA awards for his acclaimed BBC feature - The Boy with the Topknot, has already started working on another exciting venture.

The veteran actor, who's time and again proven his metal with a string of diverse and challenging roles, has now taken-up the task to step-in the shoes of former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, in a much-talked about biographical memoir entitled - 'The Accidental Prime Minister.'

Being directed by debutante Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, the film is based on a first-person account written by Singh's former media advisor, Sanjaya Baru, while the screenplay for the movie-adaptation is being written by National Award winning filmmaker, Hansal Mehta.

As the shooting for the highly anticipated flick continues in London, a few stills from the first preview of Kher's look from the movie have emerged online and they are nothing short of spectacular.

Replicating the appearance and body-language of the former PM, Kher seemed to have perfectly embodied the role. However, it is too early to say how he manages to pull it off for the entire movie, the very "look" is definitely 'on-point.'

Speaking on the challenge of portraying a famous personality on celluloid, Kher previously said in a statement: “The opportunity of portraying a contemporary personality like Dr Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister is an immense challenge for me as an actor. He is part of a 24/7 media era where world knows his persona minutely. I have been internalizing this character for the past few months. I look forward to translating that effort into cinematic reality.”

If everything goes as per the schedule, the movie should hit the big-screens by the end of the year.

Excited to see how Kher recreates the former PM on-screen?

So are we!
