Veere Di Wedding is being called India's "Sexy and the City", but Twitter is asking to boycott it. Here's why...

The trailer for the much anticipated 'Veere Di Wedding' was released yesterday and received major buzz online, including applause from fellow-B-town-celebs across social media, but also a certain amount of flack from the 'Sanskari brigade' - as expected.

The first look of the movie has been applauded by fellow actors and filmmakers, starting from Karan Johar to Jacqueline Fernandez to Tushar Kapoor - everyone basically went berserk after watching the trailer and expressed their excitement over seeing it when it comes out:

While the 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' star Nushrat Bharucha couldn't hold her excitement and tweeted " I f**@## Love it !!"

Starring Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania - the movie revolves around these four female buddies going through a fun-filled emotional roller-coaster ride, as one of them decides to settle down and tie the knot.

The movie - obviously boasts of liberated women who openly talk about their sex lives, and casually use some curse words while talking to each other.

A lot of people online are apparently not happy with the idea of sexually liberated women and the usage of 'abusive verbiage' by the female protagonists and they have lashed out at the entire star cast, while urging people to 'boycott' the movie.

Besides the 'culture brigade', there are also those who are asking for a 'total boycott' of this movie because they are not happy with the recent dissent expressed by the flick's leading ladies, in which they extended their support to the victim of the Kathua rape case.

Yes. Some people are not happy as the actresses showed their anger and protest against Asifa Rape case and asked for justice while mentioning the temple where the horrific incident allegedly took place..

People on twitter are now using the Hashtag #BoycottVeereDiWedding to show their protest against the movie, calling the stars' recent demur - only a way to defame one particular religion.

According to these people, Bollywood celebs don't show their protest when a rape or sexual assault incident happens with a girl of other religion and are frustrated by their selective outrage and now they are making #BoycottVeereDiWedding a trend on twitter.

This is how certain folks on twitter have reacted -

While almost everything is protested against these days - so this shouldn't come as much of surprise, majority of the people actually seem excited about the stellar star-cast and of coarse the quirky return of Bebo AKA Kareena Kapoor Khan.

So like the recent 'boycott campaigns' against movies, this too may have little to no effect on the eventual commercial performance of the movie.
