"Will you work after marriage?": A reporter's sexist question that angered Sonam Kapoor

The recent launch of the first teaser/trailer of 'Veere Di Wedding' has received some major buzz, as people have applauded a non-stereotypical version of "the Bollywood heroin" - as presented by the much anticipated flick.

Although the trailer does remind you of "Lipstick Under My Burkha" - another unorthodox flick, revolving around the sexual liberation of females, 'Veere' isn't all that serious and definitely caters to the mainstream a lot more than the former (although 'Lipstick' was also a 'super hit' at the Box Office).

During the recent unveiling of the first look of the flick, the four leading stars of the movie - Swara Bhaskara, Sonam Kapoor, Shikha Talsania and Kareena Kapoor, seemed all unreserved and overzealous as they addressed the press and answered their questions.

But there was one question asked by one of the reporters during the Q&A that clearly irked Sonam, and made her address the subject of misogyny - something which has also been dealt with, in the movie.

The question was related to the recent rumors revolving around Sonam's wedding with long time beau Anand Ahuja and in typical fashion it boiled down to whether she'd be willing to work after getting married.

Sonam was clearly not happy with the sexist question and quickly lashed out at the reporter.

Here is what she said:

“Why aren’t men asked something like this? Nobody will ask a man these questions. But why is a woman always asked these questions? Shahid Kapoor ki shaadi ho gai hai, kisine unse poocha if he’s going to work or not work? This misogynistic mindset is what needs to change and hopefully with films like this, something changes.”

Clearly, Sonam has never been the one to hold back.

More power to her.

Here's hoping the movie manages to tear down more barriers and boundaries of misogyny, like 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' did the past year.
