Karnataka girl gives her final exam in bridal outfit, only few minutes before getting married

Indian females have often  had to succumb to societal and family pressures to sacrifice their educational aspirations for the sake of "settling down" - (read getting married).

Things have slowly started to change for the better in recent times, but beyond the lives in the big metros, there's still a long way to go when it comes to making people aware on the significance of educating women.

Setting her priorities straight in her head, a second year B. Com student chose not to skip her examination right before her wedding ceremony and appeared for the same literally minutes before it, while still being decked-up in her wedding attire.

AY Kavya - who's a student of Kalpatru Degree college from KR Pete town appeared for her second year examination on Business Tax, barely a few hours before her wedding.

Although many people may question why the timing of the wedding was not changed to make it more simple, but for anyone who does not understand how weddings works in India beyond the big cities - it would have been quite a reach. Besides, according to Kavya's family, the date for the wedding was decided and preparations done accordingly - months before the exam datesheet was announced by the board.

Most girls in this situation end up leaving their studies in-between, but Kavya chose not to skip her exam but appear for the test in her bridal outfit.

Kavya's wedding 'muhurat' was fixed at 11:00 am the same day, while her exam timings were 9:15 am to 12:30 pm. She finished her exam by 10:48 and handed over her answer sheet to the invigilator - following which she quickly rushed to the wedding hall and got married.

During the entire process, Kavya managed to retain her calm and composure  - as told by one of the lecturers.

Kavya's, who's a bright student in her college, normally scores above 90% on all her exams. Her decision to continue with her examination was supported by both her parents and her in-laws.
