Dr. Hathi from Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma AKA Kavi Kumar has died

In a shocking and sudden blow to the fans of Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chasma, Kavi Kumar Azad - who plays the role of Dr. Hathi in the popular television series has passed away after suffering from a cardiac arrest.

The actor had not been keeping well for the past couple of days was still reporting to the shoot until recently. He was later admitted to Mumbai's Wockhardt Hospital at Mira Road, Mumbai where he slipped into a coma and breathed his last on Monday afternoon.

The show's producer Asit Kumar Modi announced his news in a statement, remembering him as an 'amazing actor' and a 'positive person.'


Here is what Asit said:

“We are very sad to inform loss of our senior actor Kavi Kumar Azaad. He was playing the character of Dr Hathi in Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma. We lost him to a massive cardiac arrest today morning. He was an amazing actor and a very positive person. He truly Loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning that he is not well and will not be able to come for shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything.”




Kavi Kumar's association with the popular TV show dates right back to its days of commencement. The actor played the role of Dr. Hathi and was featured regularly on its episodes.



Tarak Mehta is the longest running show in Indian television, which also holds the Guinness World Record for the total number of shows aired on television.
