Playing the role of Sanjay Dutt in the recently released biopic of the star, hit somewhat close-to-home for Ranbir Kapoor.

No, he's never been accused of illegal possession of arms, or been put to jail for breaking the law, but just like Dutt - Ranbir too has done plenty of experimentation with drugs of various sorts.

The actor, who's currently riding high on the record-breaking success of 'Sanju', detailed his days of exploring the world of drugs - during his college days, like never before.

During the ongoing promotion of the flick, Ranbir confessed his "past" drug-habits and spoke on the subject like he's never done before.

Speaking about how "bad-influence" affected his choices during his college days, the actor said:

“I have tried drugs when I was in college and got into bad influence. But I realised that nothing will happen in life if I continue with drugs. When we did that section, I did a lot of research."

The 'Barfi' actor further added:

“Every man makes mistakes in his life. I am addicted to nicotine now and it’s worse than drugs. And I have addiction for sweets as well."

Considering the popular notion of how easily available these things are - when you're rich and famous, Ranbir's outcry about his past tryst with substance habits, makes us wonder how many others in the biz are exposed to the same.

Glad to know he's keeping himself away from those things now.
