Aretha Franklin’s pre-funeral memorial concert in Detroit was a star-studded affair. The event took place on Thursday and saw stars like Gladys Knight, The Four Tops and Johnny Gill pay homage to the late songstress.
Patti LaBelle – who’s been in the music business for as long as Franklin herself, took the stage for a show-stopping (like most Patti performances) rendition of ‘You Are My Friend’ – which, without any surprise, was immediately hailed as ‘the best tribute of the night.’

Aretha’s funeral services are being streamed live and will see a host of political and Hollywood A-listers remember and pay tribute to the diva. It would be another headliner for the Queen of Soul featuring names like – Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson and Ariana Grande.
Surely a tribute that a true music royalty deserves.
