The police did suspect it to be a case of possible suicide given the evidence of the 'surroundings', but they were only awaiting the official confirmation from the medical examiner's report.

Wayne County Medical Examiner just confirmed that the former Soundgarden frontman died after hanging himself in a Detroit hotel - soon after performing at a concert. According to TMZ, a complete autopsy and toxicology is yet to be completed.

Meanwhile, Chris' wife, Vicky, said in a statement to the press that he showed no signs of depression or suicidal tendencies, which makes it even more shocking for his family and friends.

Cornell was 52 years old.
