Watch: Mary J Blige Performs New Song on The Tonight Show: Album Expected to Break Into The Top 5
When Mary J Blige puts her soul into a performance, you feel every word of what she's saying as if she's singing specifically to you or for you. Blige, who is in full force to promote her recently released LP, 'Strength Of A Woman' stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and delivered a soulful performance of her new track 'Love Yourself' from the album.
Amid controversies surrounding her husband's alleged affair with Mary's best friend, which is said to be the reason behind their divorce, Mary, yet again, dropped a very personal album in the form of 'Strength Of A Woman' which represents her positive outlook through all the hardships.
Mary's roof-raising performance of Love Yourself personified all the emotions she is going through with her very public separation from her husband. The track is produced by Kanye West who also features in the studio version of the song.
Early estimates of the album's debut week sales unveil a decent opening for the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul on the Billboard charts. According to, Hits Daily Double, the album might sell as many as 60-70K copies in it's first week, making an easy entry into the Top 5 of the Billboard 200 charts.
The last time Mary broke in to the Top 5 was back in 2011, with her album 'My Life II... The Journey Continues (Act 1)'. Her last #1 album in the US was 'Growing Pains' which came out almost 10 years ago.
With a couple of other Television appearances lined up, 'Strength Of A Woman' might fare even better than the estimated figures.
Heads-up for Mary J.
