Tina Turner just announced a new west end musical production that will chronicle her life as an aspiring artist who came from a humble background to her meteoric rise to fame.

Turner's life has once before been the subject of the 1993 critically acclaimed biopic, 'What's Love Got To Do With It' for which Angela Bassett was honored with an Academy award nomination for her close-to-life portrayal of the legendary songstress.

The on-stage adaptation of her inspiring story, entitled 'Tina: The Musical' - will attempt to tell the same tale starting from her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, her domestic-abuse struggles with former husband Ike Turner and her return to music as the ultimate Queen of Rock n Roll.

Expressing her gratitude to her fans, Tuner took to Facebook to speak on the project:

“To all my fans. Thank you so much for all of your love and support throughout my career. I know it’s been many years since my farewell concert, and I know this new stage musical will give everyone a fantastic night out! Love, Tina x”

The 'Proud Mary' singer will take a seat behind the camera, being heavily involved in the production of the play, which has been written by Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins and is being directed by Phyllida Lloyd.

A great new chapter in the extraordinary life of the icon.
