Grammy winning rapper, Nelly has been arrested following accusations by a woman who claims to have been rapped by the 42 year old star on his tour bus.

According to law enforcement sources, Nelly - who's currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line, allegedly raped the said woman on his tour bus at around 3:45 A.M., this past Saturday.

A few hours later, the rapper was arrested on second degree rape charges and was immediately put in custody.

The Auburn police department later confirmed that the 'Dilemma' hitmaker was released from custody without being charged, following which he took to Twitter to clear his stance and to thank his fans for their support.

"Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation," he wrote. "I am completely innocent. I am confident that once the facts are looked at , it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation."

Here's more on what he had to say on Twitter:

Meanwhile, Nelly's lawyer has also bucked up for the situation and issued a statement completely denying the claims and calling it a mere fabricated story.

"Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation," Nelly's lawyer said. "Our initial investigation, clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges."

He further added, "Nelly is prepared to pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation."

Meanwhile, fellow RnB artist Akon has also come forward in support of the star, stating that the girl may have targeted him "for a quick payday."
