AMA 2017: Christina Aguilera sings in tribute to Whitney Houston and The Bodyguard

Paying homage to the late and great Whitney Houston and the soundtrack to her 1992 motion picture debut as an actress, that she turned into one of the biggest selling albums of all time - Christina Aguilera graced the 2017 AMA stage on Sunday to deliver a show-stopping performance.

Taking the stage to sing some of the biggest hits from the Grammy winning LP by Houston, Aguilera delivered a power-packed medley that started off with an acapella of 'I Will Always Love You' and proceed to Houston's other two major ballads from the soundtrack - 'I Have Nothing, 'Run To You', swiftly concluding with her classic uptempo from the LP, 'I'm Every Woman.'

Watch her stellar performance below:

Houston's Bodyguard OST was released back in November 17, 1992 - and still stands as the biggest selling soundtrack album of all time. The album won a total of 3 Grammys and 8 American Music awards in the year 1994, including a special merit award for Houston from AMAs for outstanding achievements.

In the celebration of the iconic LP's 25th anniversary - the late singer's estate also released a special edition album - 'I Wish You Love: More From The Bodyguard' this past Friday, featuring never-before-heard live performances and alternate studio recordings of her classics from the LP.

Although the internet remained divided on Christina's performance, stating that her vocals weren't upto the mark to pull off Houston's demanding ballads, we found the tribute came across as genuinely heartfelt and was actually quite enjoyable - isn't that what matter in the end?

Besides, knowing Christina, you already know what she'd have to say to the haters...
