Before Adele orJessie J, the 2000's Gave Us This British Powerhouse Singer Who Sounded Better Than Them All
Adele has earned the reputation of being one of the best voices of this generation. The British songstress has released record-shattering albums, one after another, and her soulful voice and emotive vocal delivery has earned her the title of 'queen of heartbreak'.
Right alongside her is Jessie J - another British powerhouse vocalist, whose soaring voice and acrobatic vocals can give any singer a run for their money.
But before these two made it international and found a market beyond the UK, there was another soulful British female singer, that had us grooving back in the 2000's.
It was none other than Joss Stone - the Grammy winning singer, whose breakthrough international hit 'You Had Me' had everyone grooving back in the day.
Joss did not just have the range and power of a skilled vocalist, she also had an old-school soul element in her voice, and delivered some very powerful live covers of Jazz and R&B standards in the wake of her fame.
The now 38 years old continues to release music, but has not received the kind of attention from mainstream that she deserves - especially considering the fact that we don't hear voices like hers that often.
And to prove it, here are some brilliant vocal performances from the British diva:
