The veteran actor breathed his last in Switzerland in presence of his family in what they called his “short but brave battle with cancer.”

Moore’s family statement read, ‘“It is with a heavy heart that we must announce our loving father, Sir Roger Moore, has passed away today in Switzerland. The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone.”
Born on 14 October 1927 in Stockwell, London, Moore was best known for taking over the role of James Bron from Sean Connery in the year 1972, making his first appearance through the franchise with the movie, ‘Live and Let Die’. He was also the longest serving Bond till date with six other 007 films released in the 12 year period between 1973 and 1985, which included ‘Octopussy’, ‘For Your Eyes Only’, ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’, Moonraker’, ‘A View to a Kill’ and ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’
Before starring in the Bond movies, the British actor was also known for playing Simon Templar in The Saint, a mystery spy thriller television series which ran from 1962 to 1969.
Moore was also known for his enormous charitable work with UNICEF for which he also recieved knighthood by the Queen Elizabeth II in the year 2003.
