Lehman also released a statement on Allman’s website, “I have lost a dear friend and the world has lost a brilliant pioneer in music. He was a kind and gentle soul with the best laugh I ever heard. His love for his family and bandmates was passionate as was the love he had for his extraordinary fans. Gregg was an incredible partner and an even better friend. We will all miss him.”Allman was the frontman and lead vocalist on Allman Brothers Band formed in the year 1969, releasing successful albums like Live At Filmore East and Brothers and Sisters during the 70’s and also a number of solo projects like Laid Back released in 1973 and his most recent solo album, Low Country Blues in the year 2011.
The singer, songwriter and musician was referred as a Southern Rock Pioneer and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his contribution to the genre. He was also included in Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, for his distinctive vocal abilities while the Allman Brothers Band was included in the list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. With seven gold and four platinum albums, the band was considerably influential within the Southern United States and played a major role in paving the way for other southern Rock acts.
Allman has an upcoming solo studio album, ‘Southern Blood’ which is scheduled for a release in 2017.
