Guess who has broken Ellen's Twitter record: A 16 year old's tweet about free Chicken Nuggets

Since Ellen clicked the iconic selfie while hosting the 86th Oscars and posted it on Twitter back in 2014, it has held the record for the most retweeted post on the social media platform.

But not anymore, as it turns out. The star-studded selfie's record has been broken by 16 year-old Carter Wilkerson petitioning for free Chicken-nuggets for a year from Wendy's. Yep, that's all it really took to surpass a selfie featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts, Lupita Nyong’o and Ellen herself.

When Carter Wilkerson, approached the official Twitter handle of Wendy's and asked, “Yo @Wendys how many retweets for a year’s worth of free chicken nuggets?” back in April 5th, the food chain replied giving him a target of '18 million.'

Carter simply responded with 'Consider it done' and uploaded a screenshot of his interaction with the food chain, as he captioned it, "HELP ME PLEASE. A MAN NEEDS HIS NUGGS" - the tweet which has now been re-tweeted over 3.5 million times (and counting)

It'a win-win situation for Carter, with his new-found social popularity and also a year of free Chicken nugget supplies from Wendy's. Yes! The food chain confirmed he'll be getting his nuggets for breaking the Twitter record.

Interestingly the 16 year old also made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show back in April, where Ellen comically tried to prevent him from surpassing her record, “This kid is on my heels,” she joked. “Carter, you mess with the bull, you get the horns.”

It would be fun to see how Ellen reacts now that the record has been broken.
