With a net-worth of $820 million, Diddy the richest man in Hip-hop, Jay Z second
Hip-hop moghuls Diddy and Jay Z have taken the top spots as the richest men in hip-hop, as per a list released by Forbes magazine last month.
P. Diddy, who's delivered several multi-platinum hits since his debut in 1997 took the number spot with a net worth estimated at a whopping $820 million. According to Forbes, the biggest sources of cash-flow for Diddy are due to his associations with Ciroc Vodka, DeLeon tequila and a stake on Revolt TV. The 47 year old songwriter and record producer is also the founder of the label Bad Boy Entertainment, which is now known as EPIC records.
Shawn Corey Carter aka Jay Z wasn't far behind either. With a net worth of $810 million the 'Empire State Of Mind' hit maker occupies the #2 spot in the list. But like Diddy, his moolah doesn't really come directly from his own record sales, but investments made in other ventures. Jay Z has investments in several ventures which include Roc Nation, LLC, Tidal and Armand de Brignac to name a few.
The third position in Forbes' list was taken by Dr. Dre - the 57 year old record-producer and entrepreneur, who's the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics. Dre has produced albums for artists like 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and many more, and is reported to have a net worth of $740 million as per the publication.
The rest of the list sees a massive drop, following the domination of the top 3 as the fourth spot is taken by rapper Bryan "Birdman" Williams who is the co-owner of Cash Money records and is stated to have a net worth of $110 million.
The fifth position in the list is taken by Canadian rapper and record-producer, Drake whose net worth of $90 million mostly comes from more traditional sources like record streams/sales, sold-out concerts and brand endorsements.
