Ariana Grande’s Manchester concert to continue as planned, amidst London terror attack situation

Manchester Police confirmed that Ariana’s ‘One Love Manchester’ concert will continue as planned on Sunday, despite Saturday night’s terror attacks in London which claimed the lives of 7.

There will be additional security deployed on the spot, Greater Manchester Police assistant chief constable Garry Shewan said in a statement Sunday. “Everyone will be searched, including bags.”

At least 7 people have died and almost 50 have been injured in a terror attack, as a speeding van hit pedestrians at the London Bridge on Saturday, while a simultaneous attack took place at the nearby Borough market, where three men stabbed a police officer and revellers.

Ariana Grande, who landed in the UK a few days ago, was set to take the stage at the Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground to pay homage to the victims of the terrorist attacks at her May 22 concert in the city of Manchester. But as London faces another tragedy less than 24 hours of the scheduled show, it will now have a greater meaning and purpose, as Grande’s manager Scooter Braun, posted on Twitter.

“After the events last night in London, and those in Manchester just two weeks ago, we feel a sense of responsibility to honor those lost, injured, and affected,” he said. “We plan to honor them with courage, bravery, and defiance in the face of fear. Today’s One Love Manchester benefit concert will not only continue, but will do so with greater purpose.”

Braun’s image post on Twitter further read, “We must not be afraid, and in tribute to all those affected here and around the world, we will bring our voices together and sing loudly.”

Grande will take on the stage while being joined by several other musicians like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Usher, Coldplay and many more.
On May 22, Ariana Garnde’s concert at the Manchester Arena was filled with terror, when a 22 year old suicide bomber detonated an explosive device claiming the lives of 22 and injuring over 100 attendees.
The 23 year old singer posted a heart-felt open letter on Twitter on the 26th of May, announcing the benefit concert, the proceeds of which will go the victims and their families. “We will not quit or operate in fear. We won’t let this divide us. We won’t let hate win,” the singer wrote on Twitter.
‘One Love Manchester’ will air live on Freeform at 2 PM ET on Sunday.
