Deaf singer blows everyone away with her voice on America’s Got Talent

Things got a bit emotional on Tuesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent, when 29 year old singer and songwriter Mandy Harvey took the stage to audition for the show.

Mandy is deaf, she told the judges while introducing herself with the help of her interpreter, that she lost her hearing ability 10 years ago following a connective tissue disorder. Harvey’s fighting spirit was showcased through a song entitled, ‘Try’, which the aspiring singer had penned herself.

Before commencing the performance, Mandy stated that she feels the beat and keeps up with the tempo of the song by putting her bare feet on the floor.

Judges were so moved by her performance, that she was sent straight to the Live shows after receiving the golden buzzer from Simon Cowell. “I’ve done this a long time. That was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen and heard,” Cowell said.

A moved Cowell, further stated “Honestly, I never think I’m gonna be surprised or amazed by people, and then you turn up. Just the fact that you are you, but it was your voice, your tone, the song was beautiful.”
