Listen to Whitney Houston’s EPIC cover of Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Starting Something”

When Whitney made her mark on the music scene with her 1985, released self-titled debut solo album, she instantly established herself as one of the most loved superstars of the era.

The monster success of her debut, made her one of the biggest selling artists of 1985 – which was soon followed by her first major tour, ‘The Greatest Love World Tour’ stretching over four months, starting from July 1986.

Though Whitney’s voice was on fire on any given day during this era, there is one bootleg audio available from her stop at San Fransisco where the savagery is at its peak.

One such epic moment from the show was when the legendary vocalist covered King Of Pop, Michael Jackson’s 1982 classic, “Wanna Be Starting Something.”

It is astonishing to hear, the bootleg available on YouTube, which showcases the epitome of her agility, range and ease on the upper register notes. Just to hear and experience how she interacted with the crowd in between the performance and absolutely OWNED every second of it, makes this an astounding experience.

Whitney absolutely murdered this MJ platinum-seller, and gave it her own juicy flavor.

You’ve got to hear it to believe it.

Listen to the audio on the clip below:

Whitney’s debut album went on to sell over 30 million copies worldwide – becoming the biggest selling female debut of all time, which spawned 3 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Some of the other astounding performances which were part of her setlist from the tour included her earth-shattering cover of “I Am Changing’ from ‘Dreamgirls’, soul-stirring renditions of the gospel-tune ‘He/I Believe’ and a stellar cover of Rock/Country singer Kenny Logger’s 1982 Top 40 hit ‘Heart to Heart’ – besides of coarse her own string of hits from her first and second albums.

Though, there are several other live bootlegs available on YouTube from this era. Her performance of this MJ classic, caught our attention for the amount of FIRE she put into it.

Truly a once-in-a-lifetime talent.
