Mobb Deep rapper, Prodigy, dies at 42

American rapper and one half of the hip-hop duo Mobb Deep, Prodigy has died in Las Vegas.

Prodigy’s published released a statement saying, “a few days ago in Vegas after a Mobb Deep performance for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis. As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth.”
Prodigy was in Las Vegas with his Hip-Hop duo partner, Havoc for their performance in the ongoing Art of Rap tour.
The exact cause of the rapper’s death has not been determined yet. He was 42.
Prodigy and Havoc formed ‘Mobb Deep’ in the early 90’s, releasing a number of Gold and Platinum certified albums such as ‘The Infamous’, ‘Hell On Earth’ and ‘Murda Muzik.’ The duo has been vastly credited for elaborating the ‘hardcore gangsta image’ of East coast hip-hop scene.
Some of the duo’s most popular singles included “Quiet Storm”, “Shook Ones”, “Survival of the Fittest” and “Street Life.”
