After weeks of a controversial hunting to find the perfect ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Jasmine’, Disney has finally found what they had been looking for.

The much-talked about Aladdin live-action remake and all the hullabaloo surrounding who should be cast to play the lead roles, comes to an end as the producers put their stamps on newcomer Mena Massoud to play the lead role of Aladdin while ‘Power Rangers’ actress Naomi Scott will be stepping in the shoes of the beautiful Jasmine.

Disney had quite a tough time to find the actors to play the two lead roles – amid which fans of the animated classic started slamming the studio for its lack of efforts to find actors with the appropriate racial backgrounds. The search reportedly went far to the middle-east and even Bollywood – to find that perfect face that could do justice to the much-awaited remake.

Another interesting inclusion in the cast is with Will Smith – who would step up his game to play the role of Genie. It would be interesting to see how Smith exudes all that energy needed to play a lively role like that.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the shooting for the live-action remake of the classic will begin next month.

We’re curious to see how this turns out, with an already interesting set of cast.
