Angelina Jolie sat down for an intimate one on one with Variety, talking about everything close to her life right now – from her estranged husband, to the well-being of her children and her own physical and mental health.

The Oscar winning superstar expressed how tough it was to deal with the process of her separation with husband, Brad Pitt – and how she’s still healing from it along with her kids.

“Things got bad,” the ‘Girl, Interrupted’ actress told Vanity Fair, “I didn’t want to use that word… Things became ‘difficult.'”

“It’s just been the hardest time, and we’re just kind of coming up for air,” Jolie said.

Speaking on how this has affected her children, the actress said, “They’re six very strong-minded, thoughtful, worldly individuals. I’m very proud of them. They’ve been very brave. They were very brave,” she said of them. “We’re all just healing from the events that led to the filing … They’re not healing from divorce. They’re healing from some … from life, from things in life.”

Jolie also revealed about the rare medical condition she had suffered from last year, called – ‘Bell’s Palsy’ – which she has been able to recover from with consistent therapy and acupuncture. The 42 year old mother of 6 also spoke of how she always tries to somehow hide most the trauma from her kids.

“I was very worried about my mother, growing up a lot. I do not want my children to be worried about me,” Jolie spoke on how she copes up with her turmoil in front of her kids. “I think it’s very important to cry in the shower and not in front of them. They need to know that everything’s going to be all right even when you’re not sure it is.”
