To be executive-produced by Carey and Brett Ratner, the new drama-series is being scripted and fictionalized based on the singer’s real-life experiences, particularly at the time of her rise to fame.
According to a report published on Deadline, the drama series is being written by Nina Colman and will see the story unfold from 1986 New York, where a 16 year old Carey set off to fulfill her dreams.

Mariah Carey’s debut album was released back in 1990, which went on to become of the most successful debuts of all time – spawning five consecutive #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 charts – which included classics like “Vision Of Love,” “Love Takes Time,” “Someday,” “I Don’t Wanna Cry” and “Emotions.”
With other made-for-television docu-dramas on some of Hollywood’s biggest names, turning out to be major disasters, it would be interesting to see if the Starz series is able to do any justice to Carey’s story, particularly because it is being backed-up by the Pop diva herself.
A premiere date for the untitled drama is yet to be decided.
