MTV planning to revive “Total Request Live” in October

MTV has confirmed it’s plans to relaunch it’s popular cult show “Total Request Live”, which also went by the name TRL.

Aired on the network from the late 90’s to the 2000’s – the show provided a platform for artists to promote and premiere their music videos, creating some of the most iconic moments in modern-day MTV era.

The network has started building a new studio in Times Square to host the show, which they plan to air by October this year.

The initial plan is to air for a day initially, however the timings might increase later on.

“If we’re going to come back and reinvent MTV, the studio is a given. It is the center-piece,” MTV president, Chris MacCarthy said during an interview with The New York Times.

Could this revive the interest on Television among viewers in an era dominated by online streaming services?
