Houston Rockets owner, Leslie Alexander donates a whopping $10 million for Hurricane Harvey relief

Leslie Alexander – the owner of Houston Rockets has pledged to donate a whopping sum to aid the flood struck victims of Texas.

Alexander had previously announced a donation of $4 million, but has now decided to up it to a total of $10 million.

Soon after his initial announcement of donations, The Rockets released a statement expressing their solidarity with the victims of the natural travesty, “our hearts are heavy seeing the devastation that so many of our friends, family and neighbors are experiencing.”

“Leslie Alexander has contributed $4 million to Mayor Sylvester Turner’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund in an effort to help Clutch City come back stronger than ever. Please stay safe, Houston,” the team said in the initial statement.

A day after the announcement on Monday, Houston Chronicle reported that Alexander spoke with Houston mayor, Sylvester Turner and declared that he would be upping the total donation to more than double, bringing the total to $10 million.

It is expected that approximately 45,000 will be in need of disaster assistance while some 30,000 people will be in a need of shelter as the aftermath of the disaster unfolds.
