“I can’t sing. I can’t dance”: Michael Jackson’s son speaks on his career possibilities

Michael Jackson’s eldest son Prince recently sat down with Phillip and Holly of This Morning – in his very first British interview and spoke on his career prospects.

The 20 year old threw light on the one subject which most of MJ fans have speculated about since his passing in 2009 – does he have the singing/dancing chops inherited from his late father?

Prince doesn’t think so. The young lad, was straightforward while speaking about where his talents lie and it’s clearly not on stage.

“I can’t sing, I can’t dance, I can’t do any of that,” Prince said in while speaking with the British talk show hosts. He also talked about having attempted to pull of his father’s iconic signature move – The Moonwalk. “I’ve tried it and it’s embarrassing, we can’t even talk about that.”

The Jr Jackson is more interested in doing things behind the camera as he revealed. “I’m a very private person in my private life and I don’t like to reveal to the public things that aren’t appropriate,” he said. “I decided to go into production because it’s still in the entertainment industry but behind the camera.”

Prince also spoke about how while growing up he didn’t quite understand the extent of his father’s mega-stardom, but only got a hang of it after seeing his live performances on tape.

“I thought it was normal at first but then we saw videos of him performing. People were fainting. One time we were outside the Dorchester and lots of people were shouting and chanting his name and my dad sent out pizza and hot chocolate to them,” he recalled.

Prince has also been working on a charitable organization entitled, ‘Heal The World’ – named after his father’s 1992 song, which attempts to provide help to those in need.

“We focus on child hunger, child abuse and homelessness in the Los Angeles area,” he said. “We really structured it off of Heal the World but on a smaller scale to lead by example to say you don’t have to be a pop star or be very famous to make a difference. You can make a difference by going out and doing these things by yourself or with a group of friends in your own city.”
