Selena Gomez had been laying low all through this summer – as fans constantly wondered why the young musician wasn’t promoting new music.

The ‘Good For You’ hitmaker finally layed it down and revealed why she has been absent from the scene all this while.

“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed i was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of,” Selena said speaking on her absence from the public eye.

Gomez, underwent a Kidney Transplant, earlier this summer due to Lupus – a chronic disease which in which the body’s immune system becomes hyperactive and stars damaging healthy tissues.

Sharing a post-operation picture of herself with her friend, the 25 year old performer, made the revelation about her health crisis on an Instagram post.
“So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health,” Gomez wrote. “I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you.”
Interestingly, the donor for Selena’s kidney was none other her close friend, Francia Raisa.
Expressing her immeasurable gratitude for Raisa, Gomez wrote, “there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.”
The young star received outpouring love and support from millions of her fans after sharing the news.

Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery.
