Nick Carter accused of rape. Responds stating it was ‘consensual’

Nick Carter didn’t take too long to respond to allegations of rape and sexual violation, raised against him by former friend, Melissa Schuman.

Schuman, who was a part of the short-lived girl group – ‘Dream’, claimed that Carter raped her in his apartment back in the year 2002 – when she was only 18 years old.

The singer spoke on the alleged incident in a blog post, claiming how her encounter with the Backstreet Boys star, turned into an act of sex against her will.

“That’s where I saw myself, my reflection, watching myself do something that I was sickened by. Watching myself be assaulted, forced to engage in an act against my will,” she wrote.

Responding to Melissa’s allegations, Nick immediately posted a response, stating that the two did have a sexual relationship, but it was mutually consensual – at least to his knowledge.

“I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations,” Carter wrote. “Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally.”

He further added, “This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”

Schuman hasn’t responded to Nick’s side of the story yet. You can, however, read her initial blog post here.
