Charlie Sheen has brought forward a complaint to sue National Enquirer, for a defamatery story run by the tabloid, which alleged the actor of raping a then 13-year-old Corey Haim.

The suit alleges that the publication’s story is completely fabricated and has been written as a ‘personal vendetta’ against Sheen.

“[T]he editor of National Enquirer, Defendant Dylan Howard, is running the story against Mr. Sheen becuase of a personal vendetta that arose after he was unable to be the first to break the story that Mr. Sheen was HIV positive,” Sheen’s attorney Shane Bernard has written to L.A. County Superior court.

The complaint filed by Bernard on behalf of Sheen aims to sue Enquirer for ‘defamation’, alleging that they ran the story despite knowing it wasn’t true or with disregard to finding if it was true.

“The statements are categorically false and in the article, Defendant NEI outright states that the individual who claimed that the abuse occurred, Defendant Dominick Brascia, is himself accused of having molested Corey Haim,” writes Bernard. “Thus, Defendant Howard and Defendants NEI and AMI entertained serious doubt as to the truth of the publication and/or acted with a high degree of awareness of probably falsity.”
